A new patent holding company, Open Invention Network (OIN), has been founded with the sole aim of acquiring patents relating to Linux and offering them royalty free to Linux developers. OIN backers IBM, Novell, Red Hat, Philips and Sony said that the company would promote Linux and "spur innovation globally" (from http://www.theregister.co.uk).

Hopefuly this is a fairly full and accurate list of frequencies for use in the above. I found it when I was looking for the frequencies for Stockland Hill to test my nova-t card (using kaffeine). Find the directory with uk-CristalPalace in it, copy it to uk-StocklandHill and use the info below.

If you change your graphics card or put your hard disk in a PC with a different graphics card to get X working use 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg'. I used to do 'apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg ; apt-get install ubuntu-desktop' but this is less drastic.

To get a sum of a column in sql plus you need to use compute and break. Without the break it will not work.

Normaly SQL*Plus varables must be passed in through the command line (and referenced as &1, &2 etc.) or types in interactivley. There is however a way of setting varables using a SELECT statement in a simeler way to using INTO in PL/SQL.

If you are using BitTorrent on a Box behind a firewall/router (I mention router here as well as firewall as most routers have a firewall) and you do not set up your firewall properly you will get very slow downloads. Setting up your router properly can increase download speeds by over 20 times!

This is an actual letter sent to a man named Ryan DeVries by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, State of Michigan. This guy's response is BRILLIANT, but read the State's letter before you get to the response letter. Basicaly he was being accused of building an unauthorised dam when in fact it was beavers.
